Not a safety system or machine controller
FacetPilot does not connect to, monitor, stop, guard, calibrate, or control faceting equipment. It cannot detect an incorrect angle, index, lap, speed, material, loose component, dry cut, or unsafe condition.
Training and authoritative instructions come first
Use equipment and materials only with appropriate instruction and the current manuals, warnings, guards, and procedures from their manufacturers or suppliers. Follow applicable workshop, club, employer, and local safety requirements. If instructions conflict with a note in FacetPilot, stop and use the authoritative safety instruction.
Protect eyes, breathing, skin, and hearing
Cutting, grinding, polishing, cleaning, and handling some stones or compounds can create fragments, slurry, dust, mist, noise, or chemical exposure. Use the protective equipment, wet methods, containment, ventilation, hygiene, and disposal procedure specified for the actual machine, material, lap, coolant, adhesive, solvent, and polishing compound.
FacetPilot does not identify a material or determine which protective measures are sufficient. Review safety data and material-specific guidance before work begins.
Keep clear of moving equipment
Secure loose hair, clothing, jewelry, cords, and other items as required by the equipment instructions. Keep hands, tools, and devices clear of moving laps, belts, shafts, fans, and pinch points. Never defeat a guard or interlock to improve screen visibility or device placement.
Place the device outside the work zone
An iPhone or iPad must not block controls, emergency access, guards, splash containment, drainage, ventilation, lighting, or a stable working posture. Keep charging cables and stands away from water, slurry, moving parts, and walkways. Follow Apple’s current device, power, and liquid-exposure guidance.
Stop before interacting
Do not read, type, or tap while attention must remain on a machine or hazardous process. Bring the equipment to the safe state specified by its manufacturer before interacting with the app. Tier Pace reduces routine input, but no interface can make distracted machine operation safe.
Verify every stored value
A saved angle, index, gear, lap, cheater, pass, or correction can be incomplete, outdated, entered incorrectly, or inappropriate for the current machine and stone. Verify the source diagram and physical setup before each tier and after every interruption. FacetPilot does not validate a design or predict the result.
Inspect the work area and equipment
Perform the pre-use inspection required by the equipment manufacturer. Stop if a component, lap, power connection, coolant path, guard, stone, dop, or workspace appears damaged, unstable, contaminated, or otherwise unsafe. FacetPilot has no sensor access and cannot perform this inspection.
When uncertain, stop
If a setting, material, process, or condition is unclear, stop work and consult a qualified instructor, the equipment or material supplier, or another appropriate professional before proceeding. In an emergency, use the emergency procedure and services appropriate to your location.
Report a safety-related app issue
Email mannykin333@gmail.com with FacetPilot version 1.1, the screen involved, device and OS, and the behavior you observed. Do not delay an urgent physical response in order to report software.
