The short version
No account. No ads. No analytics. No tracking SDK. Y Corp Technologies does not receive your precise location, routes, expedition history, or private iCloud backup.
Information Y Corp Technologies collects
None through the app. City Ink has no developer-operated server and includes no analytics, advertising, tracking, login, crash-reporting, or third-party data-collection SDK. It does not transmit your gameplay or route history to Y Corp Technologies.
Precise location
City Ink requests precise location because location is the core game input. It uses Core Location while an expedition you explicitly started is active, including permitted background periods, to draw the route, estimate distance, and identify new geographic cells. Background delivery is disabled when the walk is paused, finished, discarded, interrupted, or encounters a location failure. An interrupted walk reopens paused.
Location samples are processed on the iPhone and saved as part of local expedition history. City Ink evaluates accuracy and movement locally so poor-quality fixes and stationary drift are not added to saved gameplay routes. This uses the existing location permission and does not request Motion access. Location data is not sent to Y Corp Technologies. You can change or revoke location access in iPhone Settings. The game cannot paint an expedition while required access is off.
Local app data
Expedition timestamps, route coordinates, total and painted distance, duration, points, selected suggestion and completion result, coverage cells, favorite status, selected ink palette, selected distance unit, derived static map previews, and active-session recovery data are stored in City Ink's private app container. Compact display lines, geographic bounds, exploration fog, a tiled walked-path network, and closed-loop claim polygons are derived and stored on the iPhone from saved routes. The network and claims are updated after a finished expedition, not while the map moves. Explore uses the saved route and claim records directly. The app uses this data only to provide the game, history, atlas, and recovery features.
You can erase local City Ink data from Field Kit. Removing the app also removes its local container, subject to Apple device backup and restore behavior.
Your private iCloud backup
If iCloud is available, City Ink can write a backup document to the app's private iCloud Documents container after a completed expedition saves, after favorite or delete changes, or when you choose Back Up Now. Apple synchronizes and stores that document, including favorite status and any saved field-note map previews, under your iCloud account and settings.
Y Corp Technologies has no credential, server, console, or other mechanism for accessing the document. City Ink can read it on a compatible device signed in to your iCloud account so that you can choose to restore it. Erasing local data does not automatically delete an existing iCloud backup.
Apple services and map data
iOS provides location through Apple's system services. MapKit provides map presentation and pedestrian directions for optional loop-first and fallback out-and-back suggestions, static map previews, and optional post-walk display alignment. Raw GPS remains authoritative for points and distance. City Ink accepts a display match only when it closely follows the recorded trace. iCloud provides optional backup. Apple may process route requests and other information under its own terms, privacy policy, and device settings. City Ink does not use an LLM or add a developer-operated intermediary to those services.
App Store transactions
Apple manages TestFlight and any future App Store download, purchase, refund, and device-backup activity under Apple's policies. City Ink and Y Corp Technologies do not receive payment credentials.
Support correspondence
If you email support, you provide your email address, message, and any attachment you choose to Y Corp Technologies and the email providers used to deliver it. That information is used only to answer the request and for reasonable support recordkeeping. Please avoid sending precise route or location information unless it is necessary and you intentionally choose to share it.
Children's privacy
City Ink is a general-audience walking game. Because Y Corp Technologies receives no app data, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children or anyone else through City Ink.
Changes to this policy
If City Ink's data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before the changed behavior is released. The effective date above will also be revised.
