The short version
No accounts. No ads. No analytics. No tracking. Pocket Prosody does not collect or transmit personal information, drafts, scansion results, audio, or challenge history.
Who this policy covers
This policy describes the Pocket Prosody app provided by Y Corp Technologies. It covers app behavior on supported iPhone and iPad devices. The separate Y Corp Technologies website privacy notice describes this website and its hosting logs.
Information stored only on your device
Pocket Prosody stores the information needed to provide its features inside the app container:
- Draft titles and verse text.
- Manual syllable-stress edits.
- Draft creation and update timestamps.
- Challenge choices, scores, reveal status, and attempt timestamps.
This information is used only to display, edit, save, and practice with your work. The app has no account, CloudKit container, custom sync service, or developer-operated backend that sends it to Y Corp Technologies.
Analysis and audio
Scansion analysis runs on the device using the bundled CMUdict pronunciation data and deterministic local rules. Draft text is not sent to a server for analysis.
Beat playback is synthesized in memory and sent to the device’s audio output. Pocket Prosody does not record, store, or transmit microphone audio.
User-initiated sharing
Pocket Prosody can prepare a text rendering, an annotated PDF, or a high-resolution PNG image of the selected draft and scansion. It can also prepare a JSON backup containing local drafts, edits, and challenge results. These exports are generated on the device and may include verse text, edited stress marks, meter labels, foot boundaries, and substitution notes.
A temporary export file enters Apple’s system share interface only after you choose the corresponding export or Share control. Pocket Prosody does not choose a recipient, automatically upload the information, or send a copy to Y Corp Technologies.
Any app, service, or person you select handles the shared information under its own terms and privacy practices. Opening a product, support, privacy, or acknowledgements link also leaves Pocket Prosody for the browser you select.
Permissions and protected resources
Pocket Prosody does not request access to the microphone, speech recognition, camera, photo library, contacts, calendars, location, motion, Bluetooth, local network, notifications, or a tracking identifier. Audio playback uses output only.
Analytics, advertising, and third parties
Pocket Prosody includes no advertising, analytics, attribution, behavioral tracking, crash-reporting, login, payment, cloud-storage, or other executable third-party SDK.
The app bundles a pinned copy of the Carnegie Mellon University Pronouncing Dictionary as static pronunciation and lexical-stress data. The dictionary does not execute code, connect to Carnegie Mellon University, or receive any app or user information. Its source and license appear on the Pocket Prosody acknowledgements page .
App Store transactions
Pocket Prosody is purchased through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the download, payment, refund, and related transaction information under Apple’s own terms and privacy practices. Pocket Prosody and Y Corp Technologies do not receive your payment credentials. The app has no subscription or in-app purchase.
Retention, deletion, and backups
Local drafts and their manual edits remain until you delete the draft or remove the app. Challenge attempts remain until you choose Clear challenge history in Meter Guide or remove the app. Deleting the app removes its local container from the device, subject to backup and restore behavior independently managed by Apple.
Apple-managed device backups may include sandbox data depending on your device and backup settings. Y Corp Technologies cannot access those backups. Pocket Prosody does not provide its own cloud sync or restore service. Version 1.0 can export a readable JSON backup through the system share interface but cannot import that backup into the app.
Your choices and requests
Because Y Corp Technologies does not receive your app-local drafts, edits, or challenge history, it cannot view, correct, export, or delete that information for you. Use the app’s draft deletion and history-reset controls, prepare a local JSON copy if wanted, or remove the app to manage app-local information.
You can choose whether to share anything and which recipient to use. There is no advertising sale, tracking opt-out, or app-account deletion process because the app has no advertising, tracking, or accounts.
Support correspondence
Contacting support is optional and happens outside Pocket Prosody through your email provider. If you email Y Corp Technologies, you provide the email address, message, and any device details or attachments you choose to include. Y Corp Technologies and the email providers involved use that information to respond and maintain reasonably necessary support records. It is not sold or used for advertising.
You may ask for a support conversation to be deleted by writing to the same support address, subject to limited legal or recordkeeping requirements. Please do not send private drafts or other sensitive information.
Security and international processing
App-local information is protected by Apple’s app sandbox and the security controls of your device. No storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, so protect your device and any exported copy appropriately.
Pocket Prosody does not transmit app-local information to Y Corp Technologies for processing in another country. If you contact support or share an export with an external service, the providers and recipient you choose may process that information in other locations under their own terms.
Children’s privacy
Pocket Prosody is a general-purpose writing and education tool. Because the app does not collect personal information, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children or anyone else.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if Pocket Prosody’s features or information practices change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes will be reflected here and in the App Store privacy declaration before changed app behavior is released where practical.
